Lin to the Future
相信大家都知道ALL-STAR GAME即將開打，在媒體的傳播下，相信也不少人知道小聯盟也有明星賽，更精準一點的說法是Future Game，無論如何，大概有不少人會去看大聯盟的那場秀味濃厚、一堆明星的ALL-STAR GAME，但是提醒大家一下，如果你準備好當正港的MLB棒球帥哥正妹、宅男腐女的話，那就不能錯過Future Game，或許有人會問為什麼，小檸檬有啥好看的?提醒大家，自它從1999年開始舉辦後，就我記憶所及，許多你認得的明星都參與過Future Game︰Josh Beckett, Chase Utley, Mark Buehrle, Matt Cain, Justin Verlander, Alex Gordon, Rich Harden, Felix Hernandez, Miguel Cabrera, Prince Fielder, Ryan Howard, Francisco Liriano, Joel Zumaya, Joe Mauer, Justin Morneau, C.C Sabathia, B.J. Upton, Ben Sheets, Grady Sizemore, Jose Reyes, Delmon Young and Barry Zito。
或許部分台灣的NYY重度球迷還不認識上面的名字，那Melky Cabrera, Robinson Cano and Joba Chamberlain能不能讓這些台灣觀眾買帳?他們也是過去Future Game的成員。再來，曹錦輝、陳金峰、王建民、胡金龍、陳鏞基，都在Future Game出賽過，我們可以提前在未來之星親眼看到許多年輕球員的表現，姑且不論能看出他們有多少潛力，但你絕對有機會看到幾個未來的明星級球員。最後提醒你，今年我們有台灣製造、紅襪農場出身的林哲瑄(Che-Hsuan Lin)可看，他還在1A就獲選進入Future Game，恭喜。
Something You Missed
我們跟白襪子的追逐戰最近十分緊湊，在月初我們跟老虎的三連戰卻擦出火花，劇場發生在第一戰，Glen Perkins在第一局對上Carlos Guillen時，投出一記接近頭部的球，Guillen賞了Perkins一記長長瞪視，事情沒完，之後DET的先發Armando Galarraga面對Mauer時立刻展開報復，在一個具警告意味的快速球後，Galarraga的第二記直球再往Mauer的膝蓋附近招呼，我們的明星捕手對投手丘走了三步，這是非常少在Mauer身上見到的情況，不過他立刻冷靜的返回打擊區，接下來就是我們熟悉的戲碼，Gardenhire衝進球場然後得到他在MLB的第39次ejection，看個實況。
說句實在話，Galarraga第二次往膝蓋投球就該被請出場了，雖然這場球賽輸球，但隨後的兩場Twins都贏球。我至今依然難忘2004年對陣White Soxs的那個series，Koskie單場被砸三次才是經典啊!
Twins在最近的跨聯盟賽事裡共擊敗4位CYA得主，分別是Randy Johnson(5), Brandon Webb(1), Jake Peavy(1), and Greg Maddux(4)，括號是該名投手獲得CYA的次數，所以總共是...嗯，11次。

先接續上一篇的Draft Recap，Hicks已被簽下，代價是$1.7m bonus，他將從GCL Twins起步。
因為Torii Hunter成為free agent，加上他是Class A type，所以今年Twins拿到一個first round pick和一個sandwich pick。
Twins用Round 1 Pick 27選中了一名closer - Carlos Gutierrez，出身Univeristy of Miami Hurricanes的右投，Gutierrez的出線讓許多人跌破眼鏡，他在BA的評鑑下是排82nd(儘管在家鄉是 #1 closer)，原因是他有非常優異的FB(具有極佳的downward movement與command)，但也就只有FB，其他的球路近乎是零，next pitch看起來會是Slider，但也需要開發一番。還有，Gutierrez錯失了2007整年，因為Tommy John surgery。極少的球種加上手術，這個pick對Twins而言確實是一個賭注，而沒被大家罵到臭頭的原因，當然是這些新秀會不會是true，誰也說不準，再來Twins多年來的draft確實有成功之處，收割農作物的效益具有相當水準，先來看一下Law的對Gutierrez看法
看來Twins應該是對他有相當的信心，而作了這個抉擇。有blogger認為或許是因為Twins在未來幾年RP戰力逐漸吃緊，所以Gutierrez會雀屏中選，但我倒認為或許Twins不該在這麼前面撿起他，後頭或許還有機會，不過這也是trade-off。

Comp Round A 31st picks，Shooter Hunt
來自Tulane University，他在今年只讓對手有.144 AVG的打擊表現，並在每9局三振12.2人次，Hunt被BA評選為11th best prospect overall，只算投手的話，是排第4的。Shooter擁有above-average的FB (low-to-mid 90s)和Curve，CH也有達到水準以上的潛力，只是控球有時會失去準星，但比起Gutierrez, Hunt算是合理得多的決定, MLB官網的scouting report:

有沒有一位任何人能告訴我，從這幾篇我們可以得到什麼寶貴的MLB資訊，有些完全沒內容，還有一些可參考的資料也被扭曲成奇怪的結論
說句實話，我上一篇提到高小姐的文章，她今天有了新的回應，這篇算是對台灣剛接觸MLB的球迷有一些用處，姑且不論根本不是歧視問題，起碼她提到了黑人聯盟，只是相關資訊還是太少，而且用黑人聯盟來佐證女孩子被歧視，還是讓我捏把冷汗。
另外兩位名家就真的讓我眼界大開，他們不希望用數據來表達觀點，沒有人會覺得罪該萬死，本來數據這種東西就是見人見智，它絕對不是萬能，也不是說一是一、說二是二，但起碼它可以作一些含邏輯性的解釋，所以當有人說數據都該死時，我才會皺起眉頭，但有誰規定寫MLB就要數據?沒有。寫不出實質內容，請不要賴到別人的身上。高小姐(不要太嚴苛的話，美亞裔的移民文化、Sandberg與陳義信，有幾篇文章都可以看一下內容)比他們寫得還好。
這兩位不斷訴說別被狹隘的框框侷限住能寫的東西，不一定總是要談數字、歷史、動態發展、...等等，那請問我們到底要談什麼?用神格理論談Pujols和A-Rod誰比較接近上帝嗎?老是把王建民拉進文章說一些不著邊際的推論或感想，叫大家一定要記得愛棒球，只有口號沒有內容，到底是誰被框框侷限?就是因為有歷史、交易、農場、數據、規則，把MLB點綴得更多采多姿，才有更多話題，王建民因為DH制度存在與否而受傷就是一個例子。我不斷的在字裡行間看到他們描述王建民多麼努力，他的奮戰精神令人感動，持續自我突破進化，那這兩位寫文章的時候有沒有想到要學習這些精神?
問題不在數據，也不在一定非寫數據不可，可是連其它的也都沒有，我們到底在這幾位名家文章裡能看到什麼?適者生存，不適者淘汰，會遭受到這麼多網友挑戰，請搞清楚狀況，文章的問題在內容，還有這兩位名家是身處名家專欄，跟權力、歧視、騙人扯謊，其實都沒有太多關係。

Now this is the biggest surprise of the first round so far. Gutierrez is another college closer whose fastball tops out at 94 with sink. But he doesn't have a viable second pitch, not even a breaking ball. I don't think a team should take a player with only one pitch in the first round. 來談談正題吧，Twins今年在Round 1 Pick 14選進了Aaron Hicks，十八歲的他乃是高校生一枚，跟許多有天份的選手一樣，他投打俱佳，不過他本人比較偏好當打者，在2008年他的成績是93AB .473/.624/.839 4HR 37BB 13SO。他擁有優異的臂力與速度，這兩項代表他是中外野手的優質人選，Twins也從善如的以外野手身分把他撿起。談到打擊，2008年他在打擊上有長足進步，除了是switch-hitter，他能善加運用手腕並擁有傑出的揮棒速度，右打時，他具較佳的power，但他的選球還得多多加強，總之他在打擊方面具有天份但還需多加磨練。如果談到投球，他目前球速大約在92-95 mph range，但在今年春季，他投到了97 mph，預估當他成熟時應該有94-97 mph的水準，他的cutter以及change也還不差。
Twins選秀哲學偏向挑選天份高的球員，儘管完成度還不高，Hicks再次說明了這一點，Keith Law有以下的評論

既然身為棒球名家專欄的一份子，總得學習做個棒球名家。
現在她表現出一個好的開始，所以我將之前寫的東西拿掉，還有，最近球棒的事很是個話題，無論她參考了多少原文，這篇文章直得許多人讀一讀。

Draft Recap
一開始我對Draft的結果不滿意，不過看了一些其他消息，讓我的不滿修正了一些，下面是官方的Scouting Report about Ben Revere
Hitting Ability: Right now, Revere is a below-average hitter with a very pull-conscious swing. Power: Revere has no power to speak of.
Running Speed: He is a plus, plus runner, one of the faster players in the draft class.
Base running: He's not just speed; Revere is a plus base runner as well.
Fielding: Revere projects to be an above-average defensive outfielder.
Arm strength: He has below-average arm strength.
Arm accuracy: Revere is below-average with the accuracy of his throws.
Range: With his pure speed, he projects to have above-average range.
Physical Description: Revere is a small, speedy outfielder with a Corey Patterson body type.
Medical Update: Healthy.
Strengths: His plus, plus speed. He's also got great makeup and a terrific work ethic.
Weaknesses: His offensive approach needs to be overhauled as he needs to learn how to use his speed to his advantage more.
Summary: If you're looking for a base-stealer, a guy who could develop into a leadoff man, Revere might be worth a look. He's got tremendous speed and knows how to run the bases. He's got the skills to be an above-average defensive outfielder as well. Where he's lacking is his bat. He doesn't use his speed to its greatest advantage in terms of his hitting approach and he'll need some serious re-tooling to maximize his potential. Still, this kind of speed doesn't grow on trees and a team that feels they can teach him the other skills -- he does have outstanding makeup -- will take a chance.
不過一些非官方消息指出，我們可能稍微小覷了Revere
1. 他有170磅左右，而不是152磅。
2. 他今年目前打出的9支HR，其中有1支超過450 feet，他可能有些許power存在。
3. Revere在高中是擔任2B，只是Twins把他設定為CF人選。
讓我比較欣慰的是第2項消息，我們的Scouting大將Radcliff也提到"He can bench press 300 pounds. He's strong, really strong. There's upside here. He can hit them 450 feet, but we're hoping it is more front line top of lineup, base stealing guy, but he can hit them far." 或許Revere的確有些潛力，但還需要開發，不然他依然只是個leadoff man without power
關於我們2nd round選進來的Danny Rams。He is a power hitting catcher. 他的外號叫Danny "Bam-Bam" Rams，可見他有很強的手臂跟力量，不過我們不期待他是貓主席第二，他的捕手能力不佳，而且看來也沒有未來性，所以他大概會轉為1B或OF。

Johan Santana:
"I'm doing my job, it's just not working. It takes more than one guy. It's not just about one pitcher or one player. I always say it's a team effort. It doesn't matter how many innings you pitch if you're going to give up one or two runs - if you're not able to score runs, then you're going to lose the game. So you become the loser, and that's the way it is.I'm very happy with everything that I have done. I know what it takes for me to do my job. I hope that all my teammates feel the same way and find a way to improve and do a better job out there."
Morneau也說了些話
Justin Morneau:
"The guy gives up three runs and he shouldn't lose the game. We should be able to score more than one run, or three runs, for that matter. That seems to be the way it's been going. We get a good pitching performance and we don't hit."

一開始我對Draft的結果不滿意，不過看了一些其他消息，讓我的不滿修正了一些，下面是官方的Scouting Report about Ben Revere
Hitting Ability: Right now, Revere is a below-average hitter with a very pull-conscious swing. Power: Revere has no power to speak of.
Running Speed: He is a plus, plus runner, one of the faster players in the draft class.
Base running: He's not just speed; Revere is a plus base runner as well.
Fielding: Revere projects to be an above-average defensive outfielder.
Arm strength: He has below-average arm strength.
Arm accuracy: Revere is below-average with the accuracy of his throws.
Range: With his pure speed, he projects to have above-average range.
Physical Description: Revere is a small, speedy outfielder with a Corey Patterson body type.
Medical Update: Healthy.
Strengths: His plus, plus speed. He's also got great makeup and a terrific work ethic.
Weaknesses: His offensive approach needs to be overhauled as he needs to learn how to use his speed to his advantage more.
Summary: If you're looking for a base-stealer, a guy who could develop into a leadoff man, Revere might be worth a look. He's got tremendous speed and knows how to run the bases. He's got the skills to be an above-average defensive outfielder as well. Where he's lacking is his bat. He doesn't use his speed to its greatest advantage in terms of his hitting approach and he'll need some serious re-tooling to maximize his potential. Still, this kind of speed doesn't grow on trees and a team that feels they can teach him the other skills -- he does have outstanding makeup -- will take a chance.
不過一些非官方消息指出，我們可能稍微小覷了Revere
1. 他有170磅左右，而不是152磅。
2. 他今年目前打出的9支HR，其中有1支超過450 feet，他可能有些許power存在。
3. Revere在高中是擔任2B，只是Twins把他設定為CF人選。
讓我比較欣慰的是第2項消息，我們的Scouting大將Radcliff也提到"He can bench press 300 pounds. He's strong, really strong. There's upside here. He can hit them 450 feet, but we're hoping it is more front line top of lineup, base stealing guy, but he can hit them far." 或許Revere的確有些潛力，但還需要開發，不然他依然只是個leadoff man without power
關於我們2nd round選進來的Danny Rams。He is a power hitting catcher. 他的外號叫Danny "Bam-Bam" Rams，可見他有很強的手臂跟力量，不過我們不期待他是貓主席第二，他的捕手能力不佳，而且看來也沒有未來性，所以他大概會轉為1B或OF。

"I'm doing my job, it's just not working. It takes more than one guy. It's not just about one pitcher or one player. I always say it's a team effort. It doesn't matter how many innings you pitch if you're going to give up one or two runs - if you're not able to score runs, then you're going to lose the game. So you become the loser, and that's the way it is.I'm very happy with everything that I have done. I know what it takes for me to do my job. I hope that all my teammates feel the same way and find a way to improve and do a better job out there."

Justin Morneau:
"The guy gives up three runs and he shouldn't lose the game. We should be able to score more than one run, or three runs, for that matter. That seems to be the way it's been going. We get a good pitching performance and we don't hit."
